Yacin Atba, hooker of So Avignon, talks about his departure and takes stock of his season with the bison.
A raging defeat against Limoux despite an excellent start, how do you explain that and what do you think of your heel match?
Despite the fact that we had nothing more to play in this end of the championship, we showed from the outset and that we have the level of holding teams from the Top 4. Unfortunately our indiscipline cost us in the middle of the match and by dint of defending, we have given them too many opportunities to go back to the score. Personally, I am satisfied with my match because I took pleasure and brought my most to the team, even if it was not enough.
What assessment do you make this season collectively and individually?
The results, despite the ranking, should not be thrown away. Despite our bad first part of the season, we were able to show in January that we could count on us performing against several teams of the top 6. Individually satisfied because after my long suspension in the first part of the championship, I rectified the shot by showing match after match that we could count on me.
You leave the SOA after three years, why and what do you remember from this period?
-Yes, I leave the SOA after three years spent here. It is a personal choice, I had already announced it to the team in advance in January. I think I have toured the experience I had to take here. I have known exceptional people and I have no doubt that Avignon will play the leading roles in the coming years to come. Now it’s time to return to my family and my mom especially (laughs).
You go back to the PO, do you already have any tracks in Super XIII or not yet?
Back yes, already tracks yes but nothing concrete, we will see what the future has in store for us.
Who is the favorite in the title according to you?
Albi is favorite for me but as a Catalan, I would like to see a PIA or Saint-Estève XIII Catalan bring a shield back to the house of course (laughs).
