Lyon qualified this Sunday, May 4 for the final of the CUP challenge by beating Racing 92 (29-15) and will face the English Bath club at home to win the competition, after 2022.
Before the UBB and the Toulouse stadium escape to validate their ticket for the Champions Cup final, two other French clubs clashed this Sunday, May 4 for a place in the European Cup final. There was no question of Champions CUP (Northampton qualified in the final at the expense of Leinster, 37-34) but a Cup challenge, the second European Rugby Cup (the equivalent of the Europa League, editor’s note).

Racing 92 moved to Lyon to try to overthrow the Lou and get its qualifying ticket. The Racingmen bowed without too much surprise against valiant Lyonnais (29-15). After a first period hung (10-8 at half-time), the Lyonnais accelerated on the return from the locker room to detach themselves and win without trembling against Racing 92. They notably drew on the foot of Léo Berdeu, author of 19 points.
The Lyonnais opener scored three penalties between the 63rd and the 73rd minute to allow his team to take shelter and put an end to any suspense. In the final on May 23, the Lou will find, as in 2022, Bath. The English club defeated the day before Edinburgh (39-24).
