A native of Dakar, Mbagnick Diop is today one of the most influential figures in the African economic landscape. His trajectory is that of a man who has made entrepreneurship, commitment and excellence his pillars of action.
Trained in communication and advertising actions, he very early chose to put his skills at the service of a larger objective: to bring out an Africa of talents, structured, ambitious and resolutely turned towards the future.
At the head of the Senegal Business Movement (MedDS), which he founded and raised to the rank of a key player in economic dialogue, he carries the voice of the Senegalese private sector with conviction and Constance. Through the promo consulting group, and many other structures it pilots, Mbagnick Diop has created a real development ecosystem, at the crossroads of ideas, talents and opportunities.
Visionary, he is the designer of several major initiatives that mark out the economic calendar of the country and the region: the forum of the first job, the Entrepreneurship Show, the Orientation Night, the Golden Cauris-Ceremony of Excellence-, but also the African Leadership Awards, the Affairs Diaspora, or Afritech, the very first Salon of Start-ups in Senegal.
To these initiatives are added the business breakfasts, the development devices of entrepreneurial youth, and the first business nursery in Senegal, which he conceived as an incubator of African economic leaders.
But beyond these projects, it is the extent of his responsibilities that impresses. Mbagnick Diop is also president of IATA – the African Initiative for Advanced Technologies -, Fogacim, Guarantee Fund for the Circle of Investors of the Meds, and the Mutual Savings and Credit of SMEs/SMIs. He is the first vice-president of the French-speaking employers’ group, and also directs Promo Invest, Promo Immo, VIP Events, the Cabinet Interface, without forgetting its Youth Employment Foundation and the Economic Magazine Perspective.
His expertise exceeds the borders of Senegal: recognized ECOWAS expert on employability issues, a member of the presidential investment council, president of the economic subcommittee of national dialogue, and representative of employers within the COVI-19 force monitoring committee, he occupies a central place in the main economic orientations of the country and the sub-region.
This extraordinary course has earned him many distinctions: knight, then
Grand Knight of the National Order of the Lion, honorary citizen of New York and Montreal, a man of the year on several occasions, or even winner of the Nelson Mandela Prize for the best African entrepreneur in Paris. He is also the sponsor of many university and academic promotions.
But behind the titles and the decorations, it is the man of vision and action which attracts attention. A discreet builder, an ambassador of ambitious Africa, and a tireless activist for the recognition of African talents.
