This 33rd edition of the Saint-Louis International Jazz Festival will bring together more than 30 artists from around the world to offer more than 15 exceptional concerts on the Place Baya stage.
Saiki born (mercresses 28 never to 21 h)
Saiko Nata is the fusion of several artists gathered under a symbolic name inspired by the Mandingo. The group revisits classical music by integrating African rhythms and sounds, thus creating a new musical spatialization. Their approach is based on interbreeding, hybridization and transmission, giving birth to a unique and vibrant scenic space. With a quest turned towards discovery and dialogue between cultures, Saiko Nata continues her musical journey around the world.
Metz Foundation (Wednesday May 28 at 11 p.m.)
The Metz Foundation, founded in 2022, is distinguished by a powerful and electric sound identity. The trio merges raw rhythms and electronic effects to create irresistibly dancing music. Their original repertoire explores a wide range of sounds, always with vibrant energy. In a word: daring, raw, electric and made to dance!
Rosa Brunello Thursday May 29 at 9 p.m.
Rosa Brunello is an Italian bass player and composer recognized for her innovative style combining free improvisation, electric rock, dub and South American influences. His musical journey, shaped by experiences in Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam, led him to explore daring artistic paths around the world. She collaborated with major artists from jazz and electronic music, enriching her sound universe. His work, greeted internationally, reflects his vision of “music without borders”.
Alune Wade Thursday, May 29, 11 p.m.
From an early age, he received musical training under the influence of his father, conductor. The bass becomes its flagship instrument thanks to the advice of Samba Laobé Ndiaye. At 18, he joined the group of Ismaël Lo, where he played for eight years. He then collaborated with emblematic figures like Youssou Ndour and Marcus Miller, notably recording the album Afrodeezia. His work explores musical mergers, especially between African standards and Cuban rhythms.
Marco Mazquida & Trio Vendredi 30 May at 21 h
Marco Mezquida and Juan Gómez “Chicuelo” form an artistic duo merging piano and flamenco with remarkable authenticity. Mezquida, a unique pianist, surprises with his musical diversity, while Chicuelo, one of the great guitarists in flamenco, accompanied emblematic figures of the genre. Their collaboration is a celebration of sound mixing, nourished by mutual admiration and a common passion for music.
Arnaud Dolmen Friday, May 30 at 11pm
Arnaud Dolmen, drummer and Guadeloupe composer, is a major figure in contemporary jazz, rewarded with several prestigious distinctions. His unique style, mixing Gwoka and Jazz, is reflected in his Tonbé Lévé albums (2017), Adjusting (2022) and the recent Léno, a piano-batterie duo. Collaborating with influential artists involved in educational projects, he shapes a rich and daring musical universe, while sharing his talent around the world.
Salvador Sobrai Saturday May 21 at 9 p.m.
Salvador Sobral, a Portuguese singer born in 1989, is distinguished by his relaxed style and his love for jazz, soul and bossa nova. After a media experience in *ídolos *, he temporarily moved from the scene before devoting himself fully to music. His artistic journey is marked by studies in Barcelona and performances across Spain. In 2016, he was released Excuse Mean album influenced by its various musical inspirations.
Sixun Saturday, May 31 at 11 p.m.
Sixun, formed in 1984, takes its name from the unity of its six musicians with various origins. Merging jazz and world influences, the group marks the spirits with Water from there (1990) Before separating in 1998. Meeting again in 2005, he continued his journey with albums praised by critics, of which Unixsity (2022). Winner of the Jazz Sacem Grand Prix in 2023, Sixun remains a major reference to European fusion jazz.
