Economic magazine The market celebrated its first birthday this May 3, 2025 in Dakar, marking a year of commitment to the service of economic information in French -speaking Africa.
Placed under the central theme “Green finance, an innovative response to the financing needs of states and businesses? »»this celebration illustrated the ambition of the media to become a key player in economic transitions on the continent.
In an atmosphere that is both friendly and solemn, the founder of the magazine, Dr Abdou Diaw, returned to the origins of The marketfruit of a “daring bet” aimed at creating a rigorous and independent analysis space for African economic news.
The morning was punctuated by two high -level panels bringing together experts from various backgrounds. The first, entitled “Sustainable obligations: what opportunities for states, financial institutions and businesses? »»highlighted the growing role of green, social and sustainable obligations in the financing of public policies and responsible investments. The speakers notably insisted on the importance of a clear normative framework and a structuring adapted to African realities.
Le second panel, “Green finance: how to succeed in your ESG strategy?” »»explored the levers and challenges linked to the integration of environmental, social and governance criteria in corporate strategies. Internal governance, extra-financial reporting, attractiveness for investors: so many challenges that have become essential for economic players.
Created in May 2024 by the economist and financial expert Dr Abdou Diaw, The market Mission was to fill a void in the African French -speaking media landscape. In twelve editions, the monthly has established itself as a reference platform for decision -makers, investors and finance professionals on the continent.
Beyond the balance sheet, this first year was also an opportunity to announce new strategic guidelines: launch of thematic specialists devoted to key sectors (bank, insurance, financial markets), strengthening the digital presence of the magazine, and development of video formats for a young and connected audience
