At just 22 years old, the young actress Milyya Corbeil-Gauvreau has been part of our television and cinematographic landscape for fifteen years already. “I grew up on the film sets!”, She exclaims.

We saw her embodying a little girl in the film Mongolian kings (a role which allowed him to win an interpretation prize at the Angoulême Festival), a prisoner of a religious sect in the series The breakawaya teenager struggling with the limited personality disorder in Red bracelets and a young patient waiting for a heart transplant in the sports drama Sam.
And each time, the young actress who defends the main role of the film Fanny, In theaters next week, amazed us with the maturity and depth of his game.
Born in the Rosemont district of Montreal, where she grew up, Milya Corbeil-Gauvreau was only seven years old when she expressed her mother her desire to play on the screen like the young actors she was watching on TV in her favorite films.
“I was a child who was really in performance,” says the young woman interviews.
“As a child, I was doing shows in the basement, and I wanted to learn to dance and sing. I learned the replicas of the films that I saw on TV, and I remained them without knowing that it was a game. One day, I asked my mother how we did to be in it showing her the TV. She explained to me that they were actors and that it was a job. I replied: ok, I want to do that! “
Her mother, who works in interior design, immediately did a research on Google to find out how she could help her daughter do her wish. She found an agency that agreed to recruit Milya, but also her sister Shanti, who is two years younger than her.
The contracts tumbled quickly. First photo sessions, then appearances in advertisements, short films and an important first role in the biographical film Nellyin which she embodied young Nelly Arcan.
“I had a good star,” she observes, evoking her rapid ascent in the Quebec cultural landscape.
“There was a happy alignment of things and opportunities and it worked.
“I had two important films – Nelly et Mongolian kings – Two years apart and full of series. There is not a single year when I have not worked since I was 7 years old. I have always had roles every year. I touch wood so that it continues. “

In Kazakhstan with the Cirque du Soleil
It must be said that Milya Corbeil-Gauvreau has several strings to his bow. Until the age of 14, she shared her time between the game and the circus arts. In addition to having taken courses at the National Circus School, she participated in a dance and acrobaty show of the Cirque du Soleil in Kazakhstan, in 2012.
“I really tripped,” she said, talking about her experience on stage.
“But at one point, I had to make a heartbreaking choice between the game and the circus. I have always had several passions and the circus was part of it. But growing up, I realized that my passion for the game was stronger. ”
Despite his great career in cinema and on TV, Milya Corbeil-Gauvreau has chosen to continue his studies. After having made a cinema DEC at Cégep, she almost plans to register for a baccalaureate in realization at the University.
Because the young woman would also like to become a director.
“My dream is to write, make and play in my films. Just that! I am not ambitious Pantoute!, She concluded, laughing.
