A statue in the memory of Lemmy unveiled in Stoke-on-Trent

On Friday, May 9, 2025, a large ceremony will be held in Burslem, in the city center of Stoke-on-Trent, to celebrate the memory of Lemmy Kilmister, founder of Motörhead. The event baptized Lemmy Forever included the unveiling of a life-size statue made by the British sculptor Andy Edwards, himself a big fan of the group. Phil Campbell, former guitarist of Motörhead, will be present to place part of the ashes of the legendary Frontman.

The statue represents Lemmy as it appeared during the famous Heavy Metal Holocaust From 1981, with its lower Rickenbacker 4001, embodying the raw spirit of rock’n’roll. As Edwards said at the BBC : “The goal of this statue is to revive memories. I want people to stop, look, and plunge back into their own story with Lemmy.”

The ceremony will start at 4 p.m. with a biker procession accompanying the ashes, commemorative speeches and a symbolic salvation of 21 roars of engines. Entertainment will be planned throughout the day, especially in the surrounding bars such as Old Post Office and Market Place Café, where a special Motörhead roast will be offered.
