On the occasion of the weekend from May 9 to 11, the Honda HRC team will reiterate by aligning a pilot under the aegis of the Wild Card. In Jerez, the premises Aleix Espargaró had piloted for the Japanese team, when he now occupies the role of development pilot for the factory motorcycle. Finally penalized for a question of tire pressure too low, the Spaniard will give way to Le Mans.
To replace him, Takaaki Nakagami, 33, is preparing to take over the track after having left it at the end of the 2024 season. Until then pilot of the Honda LCR team between 2018 and 2024, the Japanese has gone on the side of the factory, as a reserve pilot, just like Aleix ESPARGARó this year. 19th in the MotoGP ranking in 2024, the driver sporting number 30 had made a total of 62 laps earlier this week, in the wake of the Jerez Grand Prix.
Seventh of the Grand Prix de France in 2021, Takaaki Nakagami certainly hopes to take advantage of this opportunity, although the Honda factory team currently occupies ninth place in the general classification after five deadlines.
