Several sources indicate that the Russian army multiplies assaults using motorcycles or quads to surprise the Ukrainians. A tactic that should be more and more common on the forehead.
Will motorcycle assaults become the norm? In any case, the Russian army intends to grow the use of small motorized and quad two-wheeled squads on the front lines in Ukraine, according to several foreign media including CNN. “Russia is probably preparing to systematically integrate the use of motorcycles in offensive operations in Ukraine,” said the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The Russian Ministry of Armed Forces recently disseminated on social networks a video showing an arms soldier training on a motocross field, in the midst of dummy explosions. A sequence suggesting that training in the tactical handling of these two-wheelers began.
In addition, testimonies from the front seem to indicate that assaults using motorcycles have already been launched. Also according to CNN, some of them were notably carried out in the Tchassiv Yar sector in Donbass. The Euromaidan Press media reported that an assault on a motorcycle had been launched east of Pokrovsk.
A material crisis for the Russian army?
But does the use of these motorcycles represent a real tactical advantage for the Russians? According to the ISW, the Kremlin soldiers use them to thwart Ukrainian drones, which are a real rock in the Russian army shoe. “The main advantage is that we can enter the enemy position directly and neutralize everyone,” said a Russian soldier in comments reported by CNN.
But other observers have also noted that this original tactic could also be seen as a symptom of the material crisis suffered by the Russian army in recent months. Putin troops wear out during the extension of a conflict that has been going on for a little over three years.
