Morocco: Another gifle

A Caïd, head of an administrative annex of Tangier, was slapped on Friday by a citizen after preventing the latter from force for force in the room where the ordinary session of the city of the city council was held.

The individual tried to force in the room where the work of the session took place. The Caïd intervened to dissuade him, but the man stung angry and inflicted a slap on the authority of authority. Following this incident which aroused the indignation of the authorities present in the room, the session was interrupted.

Municipal advisers and elements of the auxiliary forces tried to calm the situation. The Caid could initiate legal proceedings against the individual concerned.

This incident occurs just a few weeks after another caid in the city of Témara was slapped by a woman in front of an administrative annex, arousing lively controversy. Voices had raised themselves to denounce the lack of respect to agents of authority and the violence they have been the subject for some time.

The recurrence of tensions between citizens and agents of authority raises questions and recalls the need to strengthen the culture of dialogue and respect for institutions in order to guarantee the proper functioning of public services and the authority of the State.
