The AKDITAL group produced, this Friday, May 2, 2025, a first medical medical in Morocco: a telechurgy operation between Casablanca and Laâyoune. Dr. Adil Ouzzane, urologist and expert surgeon and robotic surgery, has led Casablanca International Oncology Center a Robotal Robot-assistant prostatectomy on a patient more than 1,100 km, at the international polyclinic Laâyoune. The intervention went successfully and the patient is doing well.
To make this feat possible, Akdital equipped its two establishments with latest generation surgical robots, offering precision, flexibility of movement and reduced intervention time. Ultra-fast and secure connectivity has been implemented via SD-WAN technology, with latency of only 20 milliseconds.
This exceptional operation mobilized highly qualified medical and paramedical teams. In Laâyoune, Dr. Younes Tibari, Professor Adil Mellouki and Dr. Khalid Azizi were mobilized to ensure the safety of the patient, alongside an experienced staff under the direction of Ms. Siham Bouhtouri.
“What matters is the patient’s health. Today, thanks to this technology, operating at a distance becomes a reality, “said Dr Ouzzane. For Dr. Rochdi Talib, CEO of Akdital, this advance marks “the beginning of a real decentralization of specialized care in Morocco”.
With this first, Akdital confirms its desire to democratize access to advanced medicine and to position Morocco at the forefront of medical innovation in Africa.
