Intensification of the response against diphtheria in the Batha and the Barh El Gazal

The teams deployed on the various strategic axes carry out activities in accordance with the established objectives to stem this epidemic. Their work focuses on several fronts:

• Knowledge strengthening: Organization of exchanges and training sessions with the framework teams of health districts, managers of health zones and community relays in order to improve their understanding of diphtheria.
• Orientation for management and monitoring: Diffusion of clear protocols for the management of cases and strengthening epidemiological monitoring to quickly detect new cases and follow the evolution of the epidemic.
• Advocacy and awareness: Organization of advocacy meetings with local opinion leaders in order to actively involve them in the awareness of the population to prevention measures and symptoms of diphtheria.
• Vaccination : Active continuation of vaccination campaigns in many villages to immunize children and slow down the spread of diphtheria.

These coordinated field efforts bear witness to the determination of the Ministry of Public Health and its partners to master this epidemic and to protect the health of the populations of the Batha and the Barh El Gazal.
