The Balata Golf Practice in Grayan-et-l’Hôpital (association born in 1993) was already equipped with a rustic route of 9 holes and a practice of 10 posts (including three cutlery), in the Natura 2000 zone, maintained without watering or fertilizers. Here he is now provided with a new training area, the fruit of a partnership between the CDC Médoc Atlantique and the town hall of Grayan, which made the land available. The project financier (CDC Médoc Atlantique), represented by its president Xavier Pintat, and the town hall of Grayan, represented by its mayor Jacky Nicaise, inaugurated the new site.
The new area includes a 220 m² green (up to 10 putting holes), an approach area of 200 m², a starting line for 8 players, 9 departures for various situations.
Learning
The educational dynamics of Balata Golf Practice has already proven itself. Since March, educational workshops have been held every Tuesday and Thursday under the aegis of the Bordeaux Academy. Supervised by volunteers, they allow 125 students from North Médoc to discover golf while cultivating respect, concentration and social ties. The school of the Drôles de Balata, created in 2022 and labeled by the FFG, welcomes young people from 7 to 17 years old every week. Supervised by the state graduate teacher Léo Würth, they benefit from progressive learning.
Strong point of the inauguration: a technical and educational demonstration, carried out by Léo Würth and the designer of putting Green, manager of the company Optimigolf, specialist in creation and development of training centers. This demonstration, led by Philippe Uranga, responsible for the training of golf monitors at CREPS de Bordeaux, has highlighted the quality and relevance of the development, both for initiation and for improvement.
