Electoral disinformation: limited impact of generative AI in Canada

The recent federal electoral campaign was the first to take place in the era of generative artificial intelligence (AI). Despite the initial fears, this technology has not deceived voters much since it has been mainly used for humorous or political communication, according to experts consulted by Decryptors.

Many Tiktok accounts have used generative AI tools to create content. They were not necessarily very followed and did not receive a lot of attention, but their content was still broadcast on the pages “for you” from users throughout the campaign.
