Canada beat Sweden 7-0 on Saturday to win gold at the M18 male hockey world championship for the second consecutive year.

The Canadian team dominated from start to finish, Xavier Villeneuve scoring the first goal after a little more than four minutes of play.

Martin Brady added two goals – one in each of the first two periods, while Jackson Smith, Ethan Czata, Braeden Cootes and Jack Nesbitt also found the bottom of the net for Canada.

The Canada star, as it was throughout the tournament, was goalkeeper Jack Ivankovic.

The native of Mississauga continued his perfect series at the tournament – during which he also turned Slovakia in the semi -final – by pushing the 29 shots to which he faced from Sweden.

Canada won the sixth gold medal in its history at the tournament and becomes the first country to win the gold medal two years in a row since the United States in 2014-15.

In the bronze match, the United States has torn off the victory from Slovakia thanks to a goal from Ben Kevan scored after 6:37:37 of a game.
