“The king, accompanied by the Queen, will attend the official opening of the Parliament of Canada, in Ottawa,” the palace wrote in a statement, a few days after Mark Carney’s victory in the legislative elections.
The 76 -year -old British sovereign, who has been treated since February 2024 for cancer whose nature has never been specified, will say the opening speech of the Parliament, Carney announced shortly after the palace announcement.
“This is a historical honor,” he said. “This clearly shows the sovereignty of our country,” he added, alluding to the wishes of Donald Trump to make the country on the 51st American state.
-This trip is the most distant undertaken by the couple since their eleven days tour in Australia and the Samoa at the end of October for the summit of the Commonwealth.
Charles III, who resumed his royal commitments in the spring of 2024 after a brief break, also went on a state visit to Italy in early April, during which he notably met Pope Francis and gave a speech before the Parliament.
On Wednesday, in a message to the personal tone, he mentioned the “scary” nature of any diagnosis of cancer.
