The rigors of winter are still manifested in May. Forecast.
Winter in force
Winter has not said its last word to the country. Environment Canada issued a Blizzard warning to the Yukon this Friday. Recall that the Blizzard occurs according to the rule of 4-4-4: winds at 40 km/h and more, visibility within 400 meters and a situation which lasts at least four hours. The sector concerned is around Eagle Plains, near the border with Alaska.
A border
In these sectors, large snowfalls are anticipated. Up to 20 cm could fall by Saturday evening. This situation is not unusual at the beginning of May for this region, but it is still rare. On June 7 and 8, 2022, a Blizzard warning had been issued for a dempt road sector which serves the Yukon and the territories-of-northwest.
Strong winds
One can imagine how reduced visibility would be with winds of such intensity. Raffales up to 110 km/h are anticipated in these sectors. These strong winds are expected to breathe on Friday overnight and Saturday in the morning.
Snow in Quebec
This disturbance which causes a blizzard situation to the Yukon should cross the country from west to east. By Monday, certain sectors in northern Quebec would suffer the consequences. Snow and strong winds are planned and solid precipitation could even extend to Fermont. Kuujjuaq would receive up to 10 cm with gusts of 50 to 70 km/h. Note that Friday, May 2 in the morning, blizzard conditions were observed in Salluit in Nunavik in northern Quebec. Visibility has been zero at times.
