A Mercedes G-Class drove into a group of people on Friday around 6 p.m. on Charlottenstraße in the area of the Olgaeck Stadtbahn stop in Stuttgart. The driver (42) was arrested, said a police spokeswoman.
According to the current status of the investigation and based on the knowledge available so far, the police assume a tragic traffic accident. “There is currently no evidence of an attack or an intentional act,” the police wrote on the platform X. Nevertheless, a spokesman for the police said “in all directions”. You can never rule out an amocran, you can’t look into people’s minds, the spokesman said. How quickly the car drove into the crowd is still unclear.

According to initial knowledge, eight people were injured, including three seriously injured. These have now all been admitted to Stuttgart hospitals. One person had to be resuscitated on site. According to a police spokesman, there are also several slightly injured. The driver of the vehicle that drove into the group of people was therefore not injured. “He’s just being interrogated,” said the police spokesman.
According to eyewitnesses, as the “picture” reports, a woman with stroller is said to have been hit by the Mercedes. A destroyed stroller can be seen in a picture of the scene of the accident.
The accident vehicle came to a standstill part on the street, partly on the area where pedestrians otherwise have to wait at the traffic light. The actually stable metal frame behind it was bent.
Witnesses are currently being interrogated, said the police spokeswoman. Accident specialists look closely at the place.
“The area is cordoned off far, injuries are cared for on site,” the Stuttgart fire brigade said on X. According to the police spokeswoman, the trains no longer ride. The stop is in the middle, on this side the road leads out of town, on the other side into the city.
