“We were able to quickly take charge of a first victim. This was on the 4th level, in the passageways. Unfortunately, having inhaled a lot of smoke, the latter died,” said Commander Brice Dupont, northeast column chief at SDIS 974. Listen:
“18 victims were transferred to the hospital, one of them is in absolute emergency,” continues the firefighter.
If the fire is extinguished, the fire soldiers are still waiting for “a dump truck to be able to make the clearance phase”, concludes Brice Dupont.
The circumstances of the fire remain for the time being to be determined.

In a post published on his Facebook account, the mayor of Saint-Denis, Ericka Bareigts, addresses her condolences to the bereaved family.
“With the Communal Center for Social Action (CCAS), we immediately initiated the steps necessary to relocate families and people who have to leave their apartment,” writes Ericka Bareigts.
As for the suite for the victims, the first councilor ensures That the “city is by their side, today as in the coming days”.
Several people will notably have to be relocated while awaiting work allowing to occupy their home again within the building.
