The village of Châtonnay in the north of Isère was still in shock this Friday, May 2, less than 48 hours after the murder of a man and then the suicide of his assassin against the backdrop of conjugal separation. A psychological cell was opened to take care of the witnesses.
It is a drama to which the 2,100 inhabitants of Châtonnay in Nord-Isère did not expect and this Friday, May 2, less than 48 hours later, they still struggle to achieve.
It was 7:30 p.m. this Wednesday when a man appeared at the home of his wife’s new companion. He shot him twice with a rifle, touching him with the head and chest, causing his death.
The author of the shots then went to the municipal hall where a yoga class took place in which his partner participated, of which he was in the process of separation. He challenged him before turning the weapon against him and committing suicide by shooting himself in the chest. A dozen people attended this scene.
-“The impression of being in a film”
“We have the impression of being in a series, a film because it was really impressive, we are in Châtonnay, we saw already seen murders, but not a suicide in front of everyone. In addition we know people who were yoga,” said Emerick, 14, at the microphone of BFM Lyon.
Stéphanie, an elderly person shared his distress for us. “It hurts, it hurts very much because I know them both”. Santia, on the other hand, did not expect the village to be affected by such events. “The device was very impressive, we did not think that here it could happen, it is especially it, in such a small village. When we knew that there was murder and suicide after, frankly it is the shock,” she expresses.
The Vienna prosecutor’s office opened an investigation by the assassination chief entrusted to the Vienna gendarmerie brigade. Psychological support is proposed to the witnesses of these scenes since Friday morning. It is also offered to people who brought first aid.
