Immediately the dialogue returned between Algeria and France, following the telephone interview that the two presidents, Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Emmanuel Macron, took place on March 31, and the visit which followed in Algiers of the chief of French diplomacy, here is another “affair” comes to reveal relations.
Indeed, Algeria protested, with the French Embassy in Algeria, compared to the indictment and the placement in pre -trial detention of an Algerian consular agent exercising in France as part of the case of the supposed kidnapping of Amir Boukhors, known as Amirdz.
“The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lounès Magramane, received on Saturday, at the headquarters of the ministry on Saturday, the French ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Stéphane Romatet,” the ministry in a statement.
“The objective of this hearing was to express the strong protest of Algeria following the decision of the French judicial authorities to indicate and place in pre -trial detention one of its consular agents in office on French soil, as part of the opening of a judicial information on a supposed kidnapping of the Voyou Amir Boukhors, known as Védirdz, in 2024,” added the same source.
“Algeria rejects the reasons invoked”
“Algeria firmly rejects, both in form and on the merits, the reasons invoked by the French anti -terrorist prosecution, in support of its decision to put its consular agent into pre -trial,” said the ministry.
And to explain that “in terms of form, Algeria recalls that the consular agent was arrested in full public road then placed in police custody without notification by the diplomatic channel and in the flagrant contravention of immunities and privileges attached to his functions near the consulate of Algeria in Créteil as well as in practice prevail in the matter between Algeria and France”, and ” Fragility and the inconsistency of the vermoulu and eccentric argument invoked by the security services of the French Ministry of the Interior during the hearings, which supports this unacceptable judicial cabal on the mere fact that the mobile phone of the incilped consular agent would have limited around the address of the domicile of the vigorousness Amir Boukhors ”.
To this end, adds the ministry, “Algeria calls for the immediate release of the consular agent placed in pre -trial detention and requires that the rights attached to its functions, both within the framework of international conventions and bilateral agreements, be scrupulously respected in order to allow it to defend itself properly and under the most basic conditions”.
“Torpilling” The process of relaunching bilateral relations
Algeria estimates, thus, that “this judicial turning point, unprecedented in the annals of Algerian-French relations, is not the fruit of chance and that its occurrence intervenes in a well-defined context and for torpedoing the process of recovering bilateral relations agreed between the two heads of state during their recent telephone interview”.
-An “unhappy and unwelcome” turning point, which proves, adds the same source, that “certain French parts are not animated by the same desire to revitalize bilateral relations and that the commitment of each other is not to the confluence of good faith and the sincerity necessary for the meeting of the conditions of a serene recovery of the normal course of bilateral relations”.
Finally, Algeria believes that “this new unacceptable and unspeakable development will cause great damage to Algerian-French relations and will not contribute to appeasement”.
“Algeria does not intend to leave this situation without consequences”
“Algeria does not intend to leave this situation without consequences, just as it will ensure that it fully and resolutely assume the protection of its consular agent,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As a reminder, several French media including “Le Monde”, and quoting the National Anti-Roriste Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT), reported, on Saturday April 12, 2025, that three people suspected of having removed AdvriS I for twenty-seven hours, on April 29, 2024, have just been indicted and were placed in pre-trial detention.
One of these three people is therefore this consular agent practicing the Algerian consulate in Créteil.
According to Eric Plouvier, lawyer for Advirdz, still quoted by “Le Monde”, the three accused are continued for the counts of “criminal association in relation to a terrorist enterprise”, and “arrest, forcible confinement in relation to a terrorist enterprise”.
This “affair” comes only a few days after the revival of the relations that were in crisis for several months.
