The 7th edition of the Famenne-Ardenne Classic takes place this Sunday on a 186.7-kilometer route which should smile at sprinters. In the absence of Arnaud de Lie, winner of the last two editions, several quick men could triumph in Marche-en-Famenne.
Sprinters should again carve out the lion’s share on Sunday on the Famenne-Ardenne Classic (1.1). The 7th edition of the Walloon race, 186.7 kilometers long, will keep its traditional journey in broad outline, with departure and arrival in Marche-en-Famenne and several difficulties, including the Côte de Roy (3.4 kilometers at 3.9%) to be crossed five times.
In recent years, the fastest men of the peloton have always survived the climb that spikes the local circuit around walking, like the image ofArnaud de Liewinner of the last two editions but who does not appear this year in the list advanced by the Lotto team. The last passage of the Roy Coast is fixed 15 kilometers from the finish and could still sharpen the desires of the Plunters.
Among the first names put forward in the pre-engagement of the 23 teams, we can point out, among other things Taminial lionel (Lotto), Hugo Hofstetter et Tom van Asbroeck (Israel-Premier Tech), Arne Marit (Intermarché-Wanty), Cees Bol (XDS Astana) or Emilien Jeannière (Totalenergies) in favorites. In 2024, DE LIE had ahead of French Axel Zingle et Maxim van Gils In this race set up by the Libramont-Chevigny club.
