Explosion in a building in downtown Langres

A gas pocket exploded on Saturday May 3, in a building on rue Lambert-Payen, in downtown Langres, leading to a fire. An incident that made a light injured but generated many damage.

Long emotion, Saturday May 3 in downtown Langres, when around 4 p.m. a blast was heard on rue Lambert-Payen, in downtown Langres. A gas pocket has indeed exploded in the apartment located on the ground floor of this building, causing the start of a fire. Fortunately, a man waiting on the sidewalk at the bottom of the building immediately warned the emergency services and went to get a fire extinguisher in a nearby business in order to start off the departure of the flames as quickly as possible.

The explosion occurred in one of the apartments located on the ground floor.

Seamless

The Langres firefighters quickly deployed to completely circumscribe the start of fire. Despite this thick smoke invaded the building where three people were still stuck on the top floor. Indeed, the explosion has stolen partitions in the common areas, making the exit by the stairs impossible.

The firefighters therefore deployed a scale and one of the occupants was able to leave unscathed, on the other hand, two women had to be secured in an airy part of the floor. Reinforcements therefore came from the centers of Chalindrey, Longeau, Nogent and Arc-en-Barrois. All, placed under the command of Captain Stéphane Collin, set out to empty all the still smoking affairs of the apartment where the disaster left in order to ensure any possible recovery before starting to clear the pieces of plasterboard blown by the explosion.

Compulsory relocations

Once all secure, the last occupants were evacuated. Finally, out of the five people involved, three were transported to the Langres hospital center, one for burns and the other two for examination.

A team specializing in buildings has been called to control the building stability of the building. If no risk has been detected on the building or on adjoining buildings, the victims were not allowed to return home and will have to be relocated.

A team specializing in building risk to control the entire building.

The gendarmerie, also present on the scene, has set up a security perimeter in part of this downtown district and then proceeded to finding use. If for the moment the accidental origin is not excluded, an investigation will be opened to determine the exact circumstances of this disaster.
