ATP> Cerundolo puts everyone back in his right place: “I do not consider myself a tennis slave, most of those who are at the top did it by choice”

Francisco knows where he comes from and he also measures his happiness, that of being today a tennis champion supported in particular by his people, a people who have sport in blood.

At a press conference, he returned to this notion of slave which was the editorial line of the Netflix documentary dedicated to Alcaraz. Francisco gives the church to the center of the village.

“I don’t consider myself a tennis slave, far from it. Obviously, to arrive where I am, where Carlos is, you have to devote a lot of hours and efforts. Sacrifying your family, friends, birthdays, barbecues, teenage memories … But I think that in the end, I would not say that it is the case for everyone, but most of those who are at the top have done so by choice. Some may have arrived there by talent and without being big fans, but the majority has chosen this job, is happy with what it does and knows what it has to offer. If we want to continue in this area, we must weigh the pros and cons of tennis, positive and negative. Like everything in life, everything is not pink. You have to find the balance and understand why we are happier. It is necessary to devote time to it, because as in any profession and in all the fields, things are not done on their own. »»
