Under a bright sun, Marseillan celebrated, on Saturday, the inauguration of its two new Padel terrains within the Padel Club tennis. This project, born from the third participatory budget, won 578 voters in 2023, revealing growing enthusiasm for this sport that is both accessible and friendly.
The mayor, Yves Michel, surrounded by co-porters Raphaël Michel and Torhild Zettersstrom, praised an initiative “which embodies the collaborative spirit of Marseillan”. Torhild, very applauded, touched hearts with his sincere joy: “It’s super good. Thank you for your vote!”
The traditional coupé ribbon, places the discourse emphasizing the strength of the collective. Raphaël Michel was delighted: “In three months, already 400 players! The message is clear: the padel has found its place.” With € 168,786 invested, the land, managed by the club, enrich the local sports offer. Walter Bignon, assistant to participatory democracy, recalled that “More than 600 Marseillanais voted. They are the ones who guide our choices”. The president of the club, Damien Sibille, underlined the complementarity of the disciplines: “The Padel energizes our club without replacing tennis, including a team evolves in National 4.”
The festive day brought together champions, families and curious people around exhibitions, entertainment and discovery of the Padel. A beautiful demonstration of sport and to live together.
