Brandon Mechele is a real clubman. At 32, the defender spent the vast majority of his career at the Bruges club. He just left his training club during the 2017-2018 season to get some playing time in Saint-Trond. This season, he is still playing at a very good level and is one of the best players on his team. It even earned him a return to the national team.
After being overlooked by Roberto Martinez and Domenico Tedesco, the defender managed to seduce Rudi Garcia and was even authorized to play a few minutes against Ukraine during the Nations League dam matches.
Life contract
Thanks to his good performances, Mechele could dream of a transfer abroad, but that does not seem to interest him: “If I was offered a life contract, I would sign it right away,” he said.
Mechele wants to break all the records
The defender wants to continue breaking the records at the Bruges club: “The most matches, the most titles, the most cuts, … Do I think about it often? His records are getting closer and it would be a shame to spoil everything while I am so close.”
Currently, Mechele has played 488 games for the Bruges club, scored 23 goals and issued 11 assists. In recent seasons, he has won six championships and a cup. He will have the opportunity to add one to his counter this Sunday if his team manages to beat Anderlecht.
