This time, it’s the right one. Always placed, but never promoted for six years, Paris FC has finally validated its ticket for Ligue 1, Friday May 2, 2025, after its draw in Martigues (1-1), combined with that of FC Metz against Rodez (3-3), during the 33rd day. Thanks to this result, Stéphane Gilli’s players are guaranteed to finish second in Ligue 2, behind FC Lorient, who assured him of his Ligue 1 for a week.

For the first time since the 1989-1990 season, two Parisian clubs will thus defend the colors of Paris in the league: Paris FC, therefore, and Paris Saint-Germain. At the time, PSG was accompanied by Racing, now a resident of the fifth division. For its part, Paris FC has been waiting for this return to Ligue 1 for 46 years, and the 1978-1979 season. Bought by the Arnault family and the Red Bull group last fall, the PFC will play its fourth season in the elite, after those of 1972-1973, 1973-1974 and 1978-1979.
