Abedi Pelé, Asamoah Gyan and Amanda Dlamini among the illustrious figures called to supervise African youth during the CAF School Football African Championship, Ghana 2025

The hopes of African football, engaged in the 2025 edition of the CAF School Football African football championship, will benefit from exceptional supervision, provided by some of the largest legends on the continent. Among them: Abedi Pelé, Asamoah Gyan and Amanda Dlamini, symbols of excellence and models for sports youth.

The third edition of this prestigious competition, which is now one of the pillars of the CAF development strategy in terms of youth football, will experience its epilogue during the continental final phase scheduled for April 23 to 26, 2025 in Accra, Ghana.

The six teams from zonal qualifications, accompanied by the host country, will compete for the title of African school champion. As an extension of its strategic vision, the African Football Confederation invited seven legends of African football to join this edition in order to transmit their expertise, inspire young generations and strengthen the link between sports excellence and educational training.

Among the invited personalities are:

  • Clémentine Touré (Ivory Coast)
  • Robert Kidiaba (Democratic Republic of Congo)
  • Abedi Peelé, Asamoah Gyan et Adjoa Bayor (Ghana)
  • Amanda Dlamini (South Africa)
  • Karim Haggui (Tunisia)

These emblematic figures of continental football will participate in various components of the educational program: capacity building workshops, technical clinics, training sessions and support for young people before and after meetings. All of these activities aim to consolidate the values ​​of sport, discipline, collective commitment and respect for fair play among participants, all under the age of 15.

Note that Gyan, Dlamini and Kidiaba reiterate their commitment by once again taking part in this continental phase, after having already contributed to 2022 and 2024 editions.

In a declaration of enthusiasm, Asamoah Gyan, legend of Ghanaian football, praised the CAF initiative: “The CAF African School Championship is undoubtedly one of the most significant initiatives in the development of football on the continent. Thanks to CAF efforts, African football has experienced remarkable ascent in recent years.

I am delighted to note that this dynamic is supported by solid foundations, such as this tournament, which not only serves as a springboard for young talents, but also represents a unique space of international competition supervised by education. »»

All of the seven African legends will participate in the draw for the tournament, scheduled for Monday April 21, 2025 in Accra. On this occasion, the participating teams will be divided into groups of two, both in the male and female category under 15.

By placing people, training and inspiration at the heart of this championship, CAF confirms its ambition to erect a new generation of African footballers, not only talented but also aware of their educational, ethical and social role.
