The rise in regional 3 Now in his pocketit is the freed spirit that the RSG Raceulles (D1) will receive, Sunday, May 4, 2025, the youth Fertoise (R1) occasionally Final quarters of the Normandy Cup. In the previous round, the men of Dylan Pigeon and Jérémy Ronflet had released Le Havre Caudiauville on penalties. Interview with the young goalkeeper of the club, Gabin Lesage (20 years old).

“An incredible experience”

Gabin, the return of the RSG Raceulles in Regional 3 is now official and is still qualified in the Normandy Cup as in the Deroin Sport Cup. Would you say that you are currently experiencing a perfect season?

The climb, which has been our main objective for three years, is guaranteed, but the title of champion is not yet. For that, we will have to win our next championship match. We are still in the running in both the Normandy Cup and the Deroin Cup. We can now set other objectives. These competitions have a different flavor. It is the first time that I have known such a journey and live it, surrounded by friends, it is an incredible experience!

You have the right to face, this Sunday, the Fertoise youth (R1) after having dominated Le Havre Caucriauville (R1) at penalties …

An incredible match, full of twists and turns. I don’t even know which adjective to choose to describe it. Our opponent equalized each time we led to the score. We are a group of friends. We all play together without taking the lead. If we are in a good day and if we know how to develop well -oiled football that we are usually playing, we will be able to beat this team of Fertoise youth. We have proven it throughout this course in the Normandy Cup.

You joined the RSG Raceulles during the summer transfer window. What were the motivations for this choice?

I started football, when I was a child, at US Trévières. I also made two senior seasons there. I considered myself indebted towards the club and I did not want to leave as if nothing had happened. Mickaël [Ménard, le président du RSG Courseulles, ndlr] came to chat with me at the end of the match. I talked about it with Alain [Poitevin, le président de l’US Trévières, ndlr] And with my father who has always followed me in my career. The project was interesting. I had the opportunity to see what I was worth to a higher level and I must say that I do not regret my choice.

Thanks to this season rich in objectives, do you feel like you have accelerated your progress?

I integrated myself very well. The most experienced players like Damien [Lothion, ndlr] or yann [Roussel, ndlr] took me under their wings. Which obviously put me in confidence to be able to win my place. There is nothing better than playing in a team of friends and united with each other!

I progressed. At US Trévières, I was lacking in competition. I tended to stay on my achievements. Here, at RSG Raceulles, with three senior teams, you have to work. I have a very engaging job, but the coaches [Dylan Pigeon et Jérémy Ronflet, ndlr] trusted me. I was also able to release one or two reference games at the start of the season. I knew how to seize the chance they have given me.
