After bringing the shield of the Dumas Paule Challenge, disputed in Saverdun, the Rugby School of the Pays de Foix had already struck hard by winning the Paul Fines Trophy, attributed to the best training all categories of ages combined. It is therefore in this promising context that the verdict of the second phase of the Groupama regional challenge was particularly expected.
Committed to the highest possible level – the level “A”, apart from the Top 14 clubs – the mixed team at XV confirmed its full potential. Thanks to the exemplary attendance of the 30 children present at the training, it has gradually gone up, going so far as to sign two reference successes in front of the Toulouse stadium and to Colomiers. As a result, a qualification for the regional grand final, scheduled for Revel on May 25.
On the team’s 10 -playing team, also mixed but evolving in “C” level, the balance sheet is also encouraging. Composed largely of first year young people, this training certainly did not win its qualification, but it has won brilliantly against Tournefeuille and Blagnac. Above all, it has shown significant individual and collective progress, which awakens good prospects for evolution.
Another reason for satisfaction: the female F15 team. Committed for the first time this season, she has played her specific sets during weekends without mixed competition. And if she fails to qualify for the final-only four out of twenty-eight teams accessed the last square of the level “A”-the girls finished at a very beautiful 12th place. With each tournament, they were the most numerous to represent their club. A remarkable commitment which testifies to a real craze for female rugby in the valley.
-This route is the fruit of the collective work of a team of united and invested educators, supported by the precious coordination of Valérie, ankle worker of the project. Also note the selection of several young players in the departmental and regional workforce, additional proof of the quality of the training offered in Foix.
Collective work
The simultaneous commitment of three teams on these competitions represented an important logistical and human challenge. Thanks to the support of the USF, the support club of the rugby school, and its partners – AS Barguillère and the USCB 117 – This bet was brilliantly held, constituting a good collective reward.
The season is far from over: several tournaments remain to be played in May, before the big closing party of the “3 -round tournament”, which will be held on June 7 on the installations of the Plaine des Sports Jean Surre, in Foix. An expected meeting, which will bring together rugby schools from all over the region.
Finally, among the cadets, we now know the opponent in 1/8th finals of the Occitanie Championship: it will be the Decazeville-Capdenac-Viviez rally, on Saturday May 10, at the Camille Guibert stadium in Decazeville. A new crucial step for Fuxean youth.
