Super XIII – Frédéric Camel: “It would be good for everyone to find respect” – Rugby in XIII

This Wednesday evening, the Carcassonnais moved to Tarnaise soil to play the reported match of the 21st day of Super XIII. Albi dominated Carcassonne 58 to 16. Frédéric Camel, coach of the Carcassonnaise team, returns to this defeat.

After the spite, it is anger that dominates. Anger to our governing bodies and in the face of the reactions aroused by our defeat. Admittedly, we do not transform donkeys into racing horses, but it is important to restore certain truths before accusing us of “turning”. The reality is that we have aligned the only 17 players available. Among them, 6 were injured and however played. We have chosen to leave the U19 players available to the junior team to prepare their quarter -final and avoid exposing them prematurely in the first one.

I also hear that our players would not have suffered these injuries with better investment … These criticisms probably come from people who have not watched the match or who have never played at a high level. Let us take the example of Georgy Gambaro: he scored two tests, including a second absolutely magnificent, and seriously injures this action, precisely because he put all his rage and his energy to flatten. This same player, Wednesday, got up early to go to work, swallowed his meal in 15 minutes to save an hour, left his post in Perpignan at 3:30 p.m., joined his teammates at the toll, rolled to Carcassonne, then to Albi. With traffic, he arrived at the Mazicou stadium at 6.55 p.m. not really the ideal conditions to prepare, especially 72 hours after the battle against PIA…

This is the truth. It was important to remind you. Our players have done their job, no offense to the pseudo-philosophers sports. A little respect is essential: that the supporters support, that the coaches train, that the players play and, above all, that the federal leaders direct, but with more competence, to avoid situations as dangerous for the physical integrity of our athletes.

Finally, it is necessary to congratulate Albi who superbly won his match on the field with a quality game. They deserve their place as a leader in the classification. This club deserves to be praised for its dynamism, its results and its ambition. They are today the big favorites for the title and after having tripped in the cup final, they should logically win the shield this season. A new setback seems impossible, given the depth, the quality of the workforce, the financial investment of the managers and the wages offered. The opposite would be a failure as they dominate this year. Good luck to the Tigers for the future, as well as to the five other teams still in the race.
