“It’s the festival at home. Vincent Cazaux is seated on the terrace of a café Place Saint-Roch, in Mont-de-Marsan. Long hair, beard and t-shirt of a metal group, his style leaves little doubt about his favorite music.
Passionate about metal music, the inhabitant of Saint-Pierre-du-Mont scums the concerts of the Landes scene, goes every year to the festival. Until herself created during the pandemic in 2020. “There was no more festival. We are mainly supporters of Hellfest. We thought that we had to mark the occasion, do something between us. »»
About twenty friends, some beer barrels and, the most important, good music. The case is launched. For several years, they gathered in a private place and plant the tent. The idea begins to germinate. “We realized that there was a real request. It is true that in the area, there is not much. If you want metal, you have to go to Bordeaux, Bayonne, Tarbes or Toulouse. »»
Vincent and his best friend Simon Riffard therefore decided to create an association, in January 2024, to materialize the project and bring the metal to the heart of the Landes: the Homefest Festival was born. The first edition will take place on May 31, 2025, at the Marsan leisure center, in Saint-Pierre-du-Mont.
A human -sized festival
The association has only three members: Vincent, his best friend, and his father. “We want to manage the thing on a human scale and if it works, that there are several editions, there, why not start to welcome people in the organization. »»
First step: find a place. Not an easy task for the three Landais, who come up against their first difficulties. “It took six months. We have suffered a lot of refusals. They end up getting in touch with Mont-de-Marsan Agglo, which gives the green light for an installation on the leisure basis of Menasse. Everything is being set up, with a budget set at 6,500 euros for a day of intense festivity.
No more than 100 festival -goers will be admitted to the site, excluding volunteers, guests and artists. “To keep this spirit of human size, because there is the lake and that one does not want something dramatic to happen,” explains Vincent Cazaux. The goal is also to supervise the event as much as possible, to run for and hope for new authorizations and continue the adventure. “If it works, we will try to gauge at 300-400 people the next time, with perhaps twice as many concerts. »»

Next step, groups. “This is not something that worried me,” smiles the young Landais. “I’ve been listening to metal for twenty-five years, I know the local scene well. From Mont-de-Marsan, there is on the ground, which will be with us. We want to develop the scene here. They will be accompanied by Widenkill, Marie-Bird and Evil-Minded groups.

“I hope that kids will come and say that it is possible to make metal in the Landes. I started like that, seeing local groups. But the musician has little hope of seeing metal music exploded, which has a fairly limited audience on the territory. “I have always been disappointed. Cafémusic ‘and amplified music moors, which are the two large subsidized structures, put almost nothing on the metal. The first edition of the Homefest festival may help make things happen.
Of the room in the plate
The organizers provide special care to highlight the local players. Even in the pints. With this in mind, Vincent called on the Bahus brewery. As for the plate, the Burté farm will be in controllers with seasonal fruits and vegetables. The La Flemme pizzeria will come to lend a hand, with a pizza specially prepared for the festival, with farm products. Exhibitors will also be on site, with a wood craftsman from Castandet. HD Tattoo will make the trip and will offer, on site, tattoos and piercings. And to dress the site, the florist of Saint-Pierre-du-Mont Histoire de Fleur, a fan of metal, will make a floral structure which will be installed at the entrance to the festival.
