The filmmaker Martin Scorsese is preparing a documentary that will stage the last filmed interview granted by Pape Francis before his death.

According to information from the specialized site The Hollywood Reporter, The film entitled Aldeas – A New Story The Scholas Occurtes international organization will look at an educational movement for young people around the world that was founded by the Pope a dozen years ago.

Pope Francis died on April 21, the day after Easter, at the age of 88.

“For Pope Francis, it was important that peoples around the world exchange ideas with respect while preserving their cultural identity, and cinema is the best way to get there.”

We know that Catholicism has always occupied an important place in the life and work of Martin Scorsese. The filmmaker made several films on the subject including the last temptation of Christ.

The date of release of the documentary Aldeas – A New Story has not yet been revealed.
