The sales figures for the month of April have just fallen, and confirm the downward trend of the automotive market in France. At the cumulation VP + seen, it has sold 171,638 vehicles, 5.1 % less than in April 2024. The French seem to be less and less heading towards a new car, and this phenomenon is also valid for the period covering the first months of the year: – 7.3 % from January to April compared to the same period in 2024, which was not already a big cru … Yet a few surprises.
Among them, the strong resumption of Alfa Romeo (+ 56.7 % in April) within the Stellantis group thanks to the junior (1,814 units since January) or the push of hybrid models over the first four months of 2025 (45.1 % of sales by counting HEV and micro-hybrid). The share of electric vehicles (100,061 ex., Or 18.2% of sales) is a little lower, but continues its little way.
The R5 runs in the lead
Another beautiful surprise, at Renault, with the beautiful departure of the Renault 5. For its first months of career, the electric city car has already passed at 11,454 units between January and April 2025. It thus takes the lead in the French sales of electric vehicles, in front of the Citroën Ë-C3 (7,247 units) and Renault Scenic (5,859 units) over the first months of the year. In April alone, the cavity at the diamond sold at 2,267 units.
When Renault seems to ride the wave of success, Tesla takes water. The Y Model, whose first copies of the restyled model are delivered to customers, has largely lost ground. The Californian brand’s SUV goes from 2nd to 11th place in the VE ranking between January and April, with 5,237 registrations. The effects of the boycott operated by customers after Elon Musk’s displaced remarks and gestures since his arrival at the government of Donald Trump? Possible. Hopefully the arrival of the propulsion versions and more accessible variants promised for months will change the situation … As for the Tesla Model 3, it is downright relegated to the peloton tail, with 2,258 units delivered between January and April, less than a Dacia Spring (2,633 units).
-The Clio remains the queen overall
Global, it is still Renault who stands out with his Clio. The city car, soon renewed, proudly displays 32,934 registrations between January and April, while its Peugeot 208 rival reaches 26,846 units (counting 4,163 copies of the electric E-208). On the podium, we find the Dacia Sandero (22,699 ex.), Darling from individuals, while the Peugeot 2008, Citroën C3 and Peugeot 3008 follow. The Dacia Duster and the Renault Captur still seduce as much, just like the Toyota Yaris Cross (12,918 ex.), As the arrival of the Renault Symbioz in the Top 10 with 12,009 copies delivered since January.
