Ninth in qualifying in Miami, Esteban Ocon did not hide its satisfaction this Saturday at the end of the day. The Haas F1 driver signed his best result on Saturday since his arrival in the American team, and he did not expect to be so efficient after a difficult weekend.
“We have returned everything in all directions, and it’s a great job of the team! We have problems with the car, yes, we had blockages on the front, we lacked support at the front at certain speeds, and we managed to go beyond certain problems we had, it remains a lot” said Ocon.
“That’s why I think there is good potential with this car, I can’t wait to see where we will be with the update at the next race. We have optimized everything, I’m really happy for everyone, happy for me because we couldn’t have done better. It will feel good to go in the points, we will try to manage and bring the car back.”
-Asked about Haas’ ability to aim at racing, the Frenchman is convinced that he will be able to stay in the top 10: “If we qualified ourselves there, it is that we at speed. There was nothing better to go and get in this Tour.”
“We normally have a better pace in the race, it will not be easy to score points but we go in this area so it takes the fact of having to try crazy strategies, and we must just consolidate our position.”
Oliver Bearman signed the last time of qualification, as yesterday for the sprint, and he was very frustrated after the session: “I don’t know, I didn’t have a good feeling, the turn was too chaotic. We didn’t change much, I was satisfied in the car, but it was a chaotic session.”
