Esteban Ocon was not completely satisfied after having signed the 12th time of the Sprint qualification of the Miami Grand Prix. Nevertheless, the Haas F1 driver notes progress and welcomes it, after suffering from Djeddah two weeks ago.
“It was not a perfect session. We are three tenths of the SQ3, I was a little wide in the last turn, we would not have won three tenths but it would have been closer to enter Q3” said Ocon after the sprint shootout.
“The car is more efficient than Djeddah, which is positive. We still have room to progress, we will have to try to do this tomorrow to have more performance. It is better than Djeddah, but that’s not yet.”
The Frenchman will now take advantage of the sprint to prepare the race: “This is the goal, we will try to understand the degradation, how it is with the softer tires, and we will try to see if the car has a better rate of racing than qualifying.”
Oliver Bearman was frustrated to have been sent too late on the track at the end of SQ1 and not to have been able to do a second round: “It was difficult but I only went on. We missed the flag, unfortunately, and we have to analyze that. I have to see what happened, it’s unhappy. I don’t know [comment se comporte la VF-25]I only went on. “
