While Formula 1 is found in Miami, for its first Grand Prix of the season on American soil, rumors around the future of Sergio Pérez are going well. On the sidelines since he was ousted by Red Bull after last season, the Mexican pilot remains coveted and recently said that he was now going to study his options. Last month, he conditioned his return to finding a sufficiently serious and attractive project.

Winner of six Grands Prix in 281 departures since its beginnings in 2010, the 35 pilot presents an experience profile which seduces Cadillac. It is also historically accompanied by sponsors who can make the difference on the financial level. The American manufacturer will make his arrival in Formula 1 in 2026 and formed the eleventh stable of the starting grid, and has never hidden his intention to hire a seasoned pilot alongside another of American nationality.

“We have to move forward, select merit and build a team, because there are some very experienced pilots available”warned the director of Cadillac F1 two weeks ago, Graeme Lowdon, questioned by Motorsport.com. “We could not participate in the last cycle of negotiations on the pilots, which means that we are not in tune with many other stables. But there are also advantages to that. There are many very good pilots available at the moment.”

This Thursday, the rumor swells to assert that Cadillac definitively set his sights on Sergio Pérez for next season. Speculations that go well while the new team of General Motors will hold a presentation event on Saturday on the sidelines of the Miami Grand Prix, the first in this way since the announcement of his arrival in the queen category.

Nevertheless, despite these insistent noises, nothing has yet been signed between Sergio Pérez and Cadillac. According to information from Motorsport.comthe Mexican pilot would not have agreed to this stage and also evaluate other options, because he is still in contact with other stables before making his choice, in accordance with what he had himself indicated at the beginning of the month.

“We discuss with several parts”he then entrusted to the official F1 website. “Once I know all the options, I will make a decision. What is clear to me is that I will only come back if the project makes sense and that I can take pleasure.”

The choice of Sergio Pérez is expected during this month of May.
