Cameroon, CAN 2025 in Morocco: an act -made package!

Algeria Foot
-The selection of Cameroon takes a new shock a few months from the African Cup of Nations 2025. After the serious injury of Nathan Ngoumoumou, it is now Joyyskim Dawa which could miss the continental meeting scheduled in Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.

The central defender of Steaua Bucharest, just returned in the selection plans after a long sidelining, sees his dream of CAN brutally braked. Victim of a tear of the knee cross ligaments, the former FC Valmiera player is now forced to a long convalescence. According to information relayed by Transfermarkt, his return to competition is estimated as of December 31, 2025. A timing which makes him almost néligible for the final phase of the African tournament.

It was a blow for those who had been recalled last March by coach Marc Brys, after more than three years of absence. His last appearance in selection dates back to August 2021. At 29, Dawa hoped to find his place in the group, he who has 10 selections in the jersey of the Indomitable Lions. But with such a serious injury and a period of rethletics that promises to be long, its chances of appearing in the final list are now slim.

Even in the event of early return, the competition having already been launched for ten days, the lack of rhythm and automatisms could prove to be unacceptable. The Cameroonian coach will undoubtedly have to trust other defense profiles, especially since competition is fierce in this position. A group dynamics could be created in the absence of Dawa, making its last -minute integration even more difficult.

This injury is added to that of Nathan Ngoumou, affected by the Achilles tendon and also very uncertain for the CAN. Two probable packages that seriously weaken Cameroon a few months before a competition where the pressure will be large and the ambitions high.

For Dawa, this 2024-2025 season ends suddenly. It remains to be seen whether the colossus born in Colombes will be able to return strong enough to bounce back in the second half of the following season. But for the CAN 2025, the curtain already seems ready to fall.
