At a press conference, the captain of the Lou Baptiste Couilloud returned to his own victory in the semi-final of Challenge Cup, against Racing 92.
Three years after your first European title, here you are back in the CUP challenge final…
It’s great, we are where we wanted to be at the start of the season. The challenge is a goal that we had checked. We come back from afar because in mid-season, we were thirties of the championship and pensions above all to the maintenance. Today, we are therefore very happy to be able to relive a moment similar to 2023.
Are you a happy man?
If in December, we had been allowed to imagine that, we could not have believed it, frankly. […] We are in the race in the championship and in the European Cup final. The dynamics are positive. Having doubted a part of the year adds emotion. The final? We will have time to think about it but Bath has dominated the English championship since the start of the season. In Cardiff, we will therefore be the hunting team.
Were you just determined than the Racingmen?
We had been preparing for this match for three weeks. Racing is a very large team, triple finalist in the Champions Cup and who is therefore used to major meetings. But in Gerland, we showed resilience and consistency throughout the meeting. Our conquest made the difference, the match won at this level: we were conquering in touch and strong in melee. The forwards, which are often under pressure, have made a great job in the semi-finals.
