A soldier was seriously injured on Friday while maneuvering a self -propelled barrel on the Simplon pass (VS), the army said. The week was marked by several accidents involving Swiss soldiers.
The accident took place while a cannon struck another during a reverse, wrote the army on Saturday in a statement. A soldier then found himself stuck in a hatch, injuring him in the head and chest. The recruit was helicoptered to the hospital by Air Zermatt. An investigation was opened.
