“He lost control”: the shock in New York after the death of six people in a helicopter crash


A helicopter accident took place in New York this Thursday, causing the death of the six passengers on board, including the pilot.

The apparatus fell into the Hudson river while visiting the city to a couple and its three children.

The drama took place in the middle of the day, in front of the dumbfounded eyes of people on the spot.

The helicopter was released from the waters a few hours after the accident. The aircraft has damaged in the Hudson river in New York, followed by its blades. The scene, visible in the video at the top of this article, was filmed by residents of Manhattan. “I was walking, I saw everything that happened”says a tourist.

A local resident

“It was unreal, I thought it was a film, but it’s real life”, tells another witness to the accident. “We have seen the helicopter going into a spin, he lost control, he went from front to back without stopping and we started to shout ‘oh my God, oh my God, oh my God’”, reports another person who attended the scene. The six people in the apparatus died, their bodies were drafted in the river.

The pilot was carrying a Spanish family, a manager of the Siemens company, his wife and their three children. They had offered a tourist flight over New York. The helicopter was chartered by a city travel agency and took off from a heliport in the city center of Manhattan to follow the Hudson river. Shortly after, the aircraft lost control and struck the water a few meters from the shore.
