AS Vitré (6th) goes to Vendée to face The chestnut (4th) in N3, Saturday April 12, 2025. Kevin Amourettethe Captain of Sang et Or, confides before this decisive meeting.
Interview
→ You were traveling to the leader, Chauray, last weekend. Can you come back to this meeting, lost 2-1?
After our home performance at home against Panazol (0-3), we had to show another face and find values that we had lost. Unfortunately, we still suffered an opening of the very early score, in the first 15 minutes, which complicated us. Afterwards, we came back in the second half by scoring directly during our big highlight, which could even have allowed us to score a second goal with a shot saved on the line. But we are plummed by conceding the second goal at the end of the match on a transition, because of a loss of ball. We undergo a third defeat in a row.
→ You plunge back into a negative spiral. How do you explain this difficult passage?
So far, we were the best attack. We got a lot of opportunities that allowed us to score goals. But there, over the last four games, we do not score against Challans, Nantes and Panazol. And next to that, defensively, we are one of the worst defenses, we collect far too many goals. So overall, if we have broken offensively and we have one of the worst defenses, we are very likely to win matches.
→ In this period, what are the axes to prioritize to revive and reach the maintenance as quickly as possible?
I think that today, we must prioritize everything, whether it is defensive solidity or offensive efficiency, because otherwise, nothing can be hoped for. So now, each match must be tackled with the desire to grab points to reach the maintenance as quickly as possible. Afterwards, every day, everything is a bit redistributed in the championship, so we will have to stop this negative series to then continue with a series of victories. And it’s only after that we can know what we can hang on.
→ You defy the chestnut grove this weekend, a training that had given you difficulties in the first leg. Are you animated by a feeling of revenge?
No, there is not necessarily a feeling of revenge. We especially have the desire to catch up, because 0-2 was a fairly severe score. This match, he remains across the throat, especially in relation to the performance we had made. Today, we have a conquering spirit, especially in view of our current situation in the championship, which is complicated. We have to stop this dynamic so as not to put ourselves in danger, and to be able to believe, in the event of a victory, to something better.
→ This training tends to adopt an atypical style of play, leaving possession to his opponents to proceed in counterattack. How should we proceed to this team so as not to be surprised?
It is true that they also have the particularity of not scoring many goals, but all those registered were important, since they have often won with a minimal gap. Now, it is certain that, even if we are a team that likes to have the ball, we have to start on fundamentals by finding real defensive solidity. It will therefore be necessary to avoid taking a goal in the first quarter of an hour, then hold on the whole match to make sure to bring points of this trip. The first half of the path is played on the defensive aspect, and afterwards, I know we have the talent to score goals.
