During the day of women and the family organized by the cyclotourism club of the Pays d’Olmes, the Departmental Committee of Ariège (CODEP 09) was present to make some the benefits of the bicycle discover.
The committee, dear to its president Bernard Girard, has more than 420 members divided into the ten clubs in the department, the most important of which is that chaired by Jean Escaich, with 162 licensees. Their motto, initiated by the Federation, is clear: “Health, conviviality and security”. Almost half of the licensees are women, including around thirty from the Pays d’Olmes.
Alongside the treasurer Noëlle Raynaud, former secretary Raoul Brunet or the former President Louis Roudière, CODEP participates in around fifteen demonstrations each year. The next will take place on June 14: it will be the 24th edition of the Forest Rando, departing towards the Tabe massif, the Col de la Lauze or Montségur.

Until then, a “Coffee Point” outing is scheduled in Saint-Victor-Rouzaud on May 17, an opportunity to exchange in particular on the itinerant stay of the Montagne Noire, scheduled from June 7 to 10.
Rather than leaving alone by bike, President Bernard Girard encourages enthusiasts of the little queen to join one of the clubs in the department. “It is better to go in a group than alone, it’s more sympathetic, especially since sometimes everything ends around a good table.”
