He is ahead of the Danish line Magnus Cort Nielsen (UNO-X Mobility) and Spanish Barrenetxea Jon (Movistar Team). He thus won his first victory of the season, after a successful spring marked by beautiful places of honor, and succeeds the Belgian Maxim van Gils (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe)winner of the race in 2024.

The summary

There was a beautiful plateau in Germany, notably with the presence of French Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor pro cycling team) or Belgian Thibau Nys (Lidl-Trek). From the start, the New Zealander Laurence Pithie (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) and French Pierre Thierry (Arkea-B & B Hotels) got out of the peloton. 110 km from the finish, the Frenchman found himself alone in the lead and logically got caught up by the peloton 20 km later.

But it is 50 km from the line that the race has really accelerated, with a peloton that has split in two, and only about fifty riders remaining in the leading group. In Mammolshain, the last difficulty listed of the day, Maximilian Schachmann (Sudal Quick-Step) isolated itself and took fifteen seconds in advance, before being taken over in the last 20 kilometers. It is therefore a very diminished peloton, of around thirty runners, who played it in the final despite some attempts at anticipation.

A sprint controlled by the Team Jayco-AlUla

In the final, the trains of the few sprinters still present in this group have been set up. But there was nothing to face the Team Jayco-AlUlawho managed the race all day and in the final placed perfectly Michael Matthewsbefore the latter ended the work in the last 200 meters. Magnus Cort Nielsen (Uno-X Mobility) et Jon Barrenetxea (Movistar Team) complete the podium, while the first French, Warren Barguil (Team Picnic Postnl), only finished in 10th place.
