Antoine Gauran imposes himself in force between Paramaribo and Albina

The peloton started this Thursday, May 1, since the capital of Suriname for a first step of 135.8 km, connecting Paramaribo to Albinaon the Guyanese border. A rhythmic race, marked by several attacks from the first kilometers.

Antoine Gauranengaged in the colors of Diamantinois véloclub (VCD) – Martinican training quickly took the initiative. “I was able to take the right breakaway from the 15th kilometer. We were new at the front, and I was able to count on the presence of my teammate Axel Carnier to manage the group, ”he explains. The duo has maintained a significant advance, up to more than four minutes.

In the final, while the head runners were starting to watch out, Gauran decided to try his luck.

I knew that I was not the fastest in the sprint. I have multiplied the attacks in the last twenty kilometers, and the right one left three kilometers from the finish.

The Western Cycling Grand Prix is a cross -border race between Suriname and French Guyana. For this third edition, 12 teams are engaged, representing a total of 71 runners Divided into several categories (elite, U19, Open, Access). The competition takes place on four dayswith five stages including Paramaribo, Albina, Javouhey, Saint-Laurent, Mana, Apatou and Yalimapo.

The rest of the race promises to be strategic for the new leader in the general classification.

I don’t have the gaps yet, but I come alone, and we have a solid team. The goal is to defend this jersey as long as possible.
