Increase in social benefits, drop in the price of gas, end of an advantage for electric vehicles … on May 1, 2025, several developments directly impact households as well as businesses. Overview of changes.
Lower gas prices
Good news for consumers: gas prices are revised downwards. For homes using gas to heat, the decrease is 6.4%, bringing the price per kilowatt hour to € 0.1162 (against 0.12412 € before). For more punctual uses (cooking, hot water), the drop is 5.16%, with a new price set at € 0.1451/kWh.
Revaluation of social aid
As of May 5, the benefits of the family allowance fund increased by 1.7%.
Among the main adjustments:
- The allocation to disabled adults (AAH) increases to € 1,033,32 monthly.
- The RSA is now € 646.52 for a single person, € 969.78 for a childless couple.
- The activity bonus reaches € 633.21 for a single person without children.
Taxes: Watch out for dates
The 2024 income declaration campaign has been launched since April 10.
Online declaration limits vary according to the department:
- May 22: Departments 1 to 19
- May 28: Departments 20 to 54
- June 5: Other departments
For paper declarations, the deadline is set for May 20.
Employer contributions: targeted alleys
From 1is May, new rules apply to employer contributions. The decree of April 4, 2025 revises the rates of the general reduction in social contributions: it is now set at 0.3193 for companies with less than 50 employees and 0.3233 for those of 50 or more employees.
In addition, the employer contribution to unemployment insurance, so far established at 4.05% of gross salary, is reduced to 4%, thus slightly lightening the cost of labor for employers.
Referring to the energy check
The traditional energy check, intended for modest households, will not be paid in spring as in previous years. Its payment is exceptionally postponed to November. Its amount, unchanged, will vary between 48 and € 277 depending on the income.
Electric vehicles: the gray card becomes a charge
Finally, free gray card for 100% electric vehicles ends in many regions. From now on, the regional tax will apply, unless a region decides to maintain the exemption.
