Greece strengthens its fire -fighting capacities with the acquisition of eight Airbus H215 helicopters, as part of a contract signed between Airbus Helicopters and the Hellenic ministry of the climate crisis and civil protection.
This order, which includes an option for two additional devices, is part of the ministry’s AEGIS program, aimed at improving the country’s civil protection means. Funding is provided by two European funds and the project was led by the project preparation Facility in Growthfund, the Greek National Fund.
Airbus Helicopters is a long -standing partner in Greece, active since the early 2000s in the civil, parapublic and military sectors. The country already operates several helicopters of the Super Puma family, with two aircraft in service within the Hellenic firefighters and twelve within the Air Force.
This new agreement will strengthen the Super Puma ecosystem in Greece, in particular thanks to the support and training activities of the pilots and technicians provided for within the framework of the contract.
The contract with Greece is based on a “Government Owned Contractor Operated” model (GO-CO), in which Airbus Helicopters associates with experienced operators, Airtelis and SAF Helicoptera, to ensure technical and operational support.

In 2024, the group deployed H215 as part of the Resceu program in Greece. Airtelis, a French operator based in the south of the country, benefits from more than 60 years of experience, inherited from his parent company RTE. Initially specialized in support for electrical networks, he has expanded his field of action to emergency interventions, in particular the fight against fires, for national and international customers.
