Nîmes Number7 organizes its third litterroirs lounge

After two editions of the Litterroirs in the Tarn in Albi and Pampelonne, the publishing group Number7 renews the experience in an emblematic place in Nîmes, the farmers’ mas. Meet on Saturday May 17, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Why such a living room? To respond to these various problems of enhancement and visibility of the authors within their region, the publishing group Number7 wishes to set up events which will allow regional emerging authors to meet an audience of readers at the heart of their territory. The objective is therefore to promote regional emblematic authors and producers through these events, but also bring the public a reading alternative by putting them in touch with local authors.

The event put in place will take place on a day and allow the authors of the territory to be put forward, and to present and dedicate their works with the public. This event will also allow one or two local producers not belonging to the literary world to present their products to visitors. This day will therefore be dedicated to “100 % terroir”.

The event will be one more opportunity for the authors who wish to benefit from a masterclass which will allow them to learn to present their book in salons or dedications. This masterclass can notably take the form of a 45 -minute humorous theatrical comedy, open to all audiences.

Context. Christophe Lahondès founded Number77 editions in 2012 in Nîmes. He joined forces with Gilles Arnoult in 2017 to develop a completely innovative model together. The publishing house teams support writers for the realization, promotion, dissemination and distribution of their works.

In the spring of 2022, Number7 was positioned for the resumption of five publishing houses: Edilivre, Publibook, Société des Écritans, my small publisher and knowledge and knowledge. The supply of recovery of Number77 seduced by its rationality, its coherence and its economic and social approach, by highlighting the undeniable qualities and seriousness of which the publishing house has shown for ten years. The foundations implemented in 2012, based on an environmentally friendly editing model, are more relevant than ever and have also weighed in the balance. The implementation of production strategies, short circuit distribution, printing on demand, click & collecting sales or on order are all assets that today seduce the thousands of booksellers who sell the group’s books.

Now made up of six publishing houses capitalizing in a catalog of more than 35,000 titles and 20,000 authors, the Number7 group wishes to apply to all of its brands the specifics of its model which are at the origin of its success: meet the growing needs of the authors to be better represented, in order to access fair public of readers. Thanks to the visibility of their works on new media, including social networks. The group gives the opportunity to emerging authors who have very little audience and recognition with traditional publishing houses, to be able to access many potential readers.

Always more innovative, the publishing group offers an undeniable place to new social and societal concerns, by committing to eco -responsibility (labels, impressions on demand), proximity and availability towards authors, in the purest respect of all the actors of the book chain (booksellers, printers, collaborators …), particularly thanks to a partnership with Hachette Distribution.

A lot of emerging authors publish local, departmental, regional and national works. The number7 publishing group gives the opportunity to be published. However, the authors wish to benefit from greater visibility in their territories.

Many literary events are organized everywhere in France. However, you have to face several issues.

The organizers bring many authors on salons. Thus, regional emerging authors are very diluted in the flow of the many authors present. The living room is therefore not always able to highlight the authors of the local.

On the other hand, there is often bad communication around literary events: readers and the potential public is not or very little warned, which generates a low attendance of the public during these events. Finally, the headliners – The very well known authors within these events attract and monopolize the attention of the public who abandon the authors of the terroir.

In this context, the publishing group wishes to associate with partners, ideally institutional or private, in particular to provide the premises, and organize a friendly moment with the local actors present at the event (tasting, dinner aperitif, etc.). A budget of 800 euros will also have to cover the cachet, the displacement and the accommodation of the actor who will provide the Masterclass in the form of a conference-show dedicated to the authors.

It is with this aim to link the Book to the Local that the “Litterroirs” label was born. The creation of a label gives better visibility to future events by giving them an identity.

But also to stand out from other literary events by emphasizing belonging to a territory and therefore to promote short circuits; A virtuous approach already present in the practices of the publishing group. To allow the organization of Litterroirs events throughout France, the publishing group is based on its 10 regional delegates.
