The Firmi animation room vibrated to the rhythm of creativity and imagination during the day of the book and the youth authors which took place on Saturday April 5. Véronique Dailhau, president of “Firmi Initiatives” draws a very positive assessment of this 2025 edition.
“This highly anticipated event attracted nearly 600 visitors, all gathered to celebrate children’s literature. The children of the schools of our municipalities had the opportunity to present their work to the six authors present this year: Jacques Bienvenu, Christophe Loupy, Yaël Hassan, Cécile Bonbon, Bruno Pilorget and Séverine Duschesne”.
Sébastien Cayssials, coordinator of the Decazeville priority education network, explains that these authors were present on Thursday morning to intervene in 13 schools and 3 colleges mainly located in the basin representing 55 classes.
A three -step budget
As a reminder, the project “Read and receive an author and/or an illustrator of children’s literature” takes place in three stages: a first meeting of teachers’ inscriptions in September; A teacher meeting to All Saints’ Day for the award of the authors and the presentation of the first tracks of educational exploitation; Finally, in January, the finalization of the various cultural and artistic projects carried out by the students. This year, these achievements were presented to the authors on April 3 and 4 and gathered in the Firmi animation room for April 5. The meetings between these writers, the children and their teachers were very successful. In the unanimous opinion of these authors, the degree of preparation of children and creative achievements from their works were very advanced. The association “Firmi Initiatives” thanks the many elected officials present including Jean-Pierre Ladrech, mayor of Firmi, Francis Cayron for Decazeville Community, Helian Cabrolier and Michèle Buissinger for the department, Pascal Mazet for the Region and the deputy Laurent Alexandre.

The day of book and youth authors is a collective adventure which is now installed as a major cultural event in the life of the basin. The organization would then like to warmly thank all those who helped make this event a success: the authors, the visitors, the volunteers, the partners and the organizers. In addition to the children’s work, all day Saturday, in front of the forecourt of the Firmi media library, many children also participated free of charge in the performances of the company Off-Logerie with his show tells & me, tales under Yurt and all came out of these performances.
