RMC Story and RMC Discovery should be renamed RMC Life and RMC Docs at the start of the school year in September. The group’s parent company is said to be in exclusive negotiations with NRJ Group for the acquisition of Chérie 25.
The RMC-BFM group is considering a transformation of its channels, according to information revealed by Clément Garin. RMC Story and RMC Découverte could soon change its name, as part of a broader overhaul of the identity of the group’s channels.
From the start of the school year, RMC Story would thus become RMC Life and RMC Découverte would be renamed RMC Docs, thus marking a desire to more clearly affirm the editorial lines of each: the first tour towards formats of social and entertainment, the second focused on the documentary.
For several months, the RMC-BFM executive committee, led by Rodolphe Saadé, would have been working on a strategic redefinition of the “RMC block”. This initiative would follow the successive redemptions of BFMTV, RMC and their derived chains.
In addition, another major operation would be underway. The CMA CGM group, parent company of RMC_BFM, should soon announce its entry into exclusive negotiations with Jean-Paul Baudecroux for the acquisition of Chérie 25, chain of the NRJ group for sale since March 21, reveals Clément Garin still according to its sources. The agreement, facilitated by Lazard bank, would aim to integrate this channel into a new “DNT Bloc” strategy bringing together channels 23, 24 and 25.
If these changes are confirmed, Rodolphe Saadé could further consolidate his position in the French audiovisual landscape, by building a coherent set of generalist, documentaries and thematic chains.
